What sets the 2023 Range Rover apart from the new BMW X7?

When it arrived on the market about two years ago, the BMW X7 made a very good impression. We know the German brand's know-how and it has outdone itself with this model. That's the kind of challenge Land Rover loves, and this year they're bringing us a completely redesigned Range Rover. A Range Rover that stands out from the BMW X7. Here's how it does it.

Design

To bring the X7 to life, BMW took a tried and true recipe, reproducing the signature of other BMW models and applying it to this model. It's well done, it's pretty and it's successful. However, you can mistake an X7 for an X5; the SUV doesn't stand out.

With its new Ranger Rover, Land Rover has outdone itself in terms of design. One look at the model's lines is enough to let us know that we're in the presence of a future classic here. The lines are so clean that it feels like a concept. The design of the rear part is magnificent. Side by side, we let you guess which model stands out from the other.

The ultimate in luxury

With an SUV of this size, it's obvious that there are variants that offer the ultimate in luxury. At BMW, that comes in the form of the Alpina XB7 variant, which raises the bar on quality in every way.

That's great. However, with Land Rover's Autobiography and SV extended-wheelbase versions, we discover a model capable of competing with the Rolls-Royces and Bentleys of this world. The BMW X7 is not at that level.

Plug-in hybrid

Finally, the other element that sets the new Ranger Rover apart from its rival is the fact that it is offered in a plug-in hybrid configuration. Basically, with this PHEV version at Land Rover, the 2023 Range Rover can run in all-electric mode for up to 77 kilometres.

With the BMW X7, there are no plug-in versions.

The verdict is clear. While the BMW X7 is an interesting SUV, it's no match for the new Range Rover. The latter has just redefined the standards in the industry.
