2023 Range Rover: here's what's in store

The Ranger Rover is getting a makeover this year as the completely redesigned model coming to us, a 2023 product, looks more modern and dramatic than ever. There's a lot to look forward to and we'll get back to that with specific presentations on the vehicle's features.

However, in order to get to grips with the subject, let's go over what's in store for this new generation, the first since 2013. Once again, the specific points that will be covered here will eventually be the subject of more in-depth analyses.

The design

Land Rover products have always had a simple, yet elegant feel to them. This has never been more true than with the new 2023 Ranger Rover. The Ranger Rover 2023 has the most streamlined surfaces possible, which only reinforces the strong image it exudes. There are no unnecessary angles, no bumpy surfaces, just straight, thin, sleek lines, front, back and sides.

It's absolutely spectacular. The model will still be offered in two wheelbase lengths, by the way.

Inside

The Range Rover has always offered a different environment to its owners. This will continue to be the case with the new model. The change is less drastic and in line with the continuity, but the whole thing exudes even more nobility. And this will be palpable as ever with the new SV livery (see below).

Mechanically

There are some minor changes under the hood, all to add more bite to the offering, but also to improve fuel efficiency. Note that the size of the V8 engine drops from 5.0 to 4.4 liters with the P530 model, but power remains very similar. With 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque, there's no time to get bored. In base configuration, the P400 will still feature its 3.0-liter turbocharged 6-cylinder engine, a block that offers 395 horsepower and 434 pound-feet of torque.

The big news is the arrival of the P440e plug-in hybrid version with this same engine. This time, the horsepower increases to 434 (the torque remains the same). However, and more importantly, Land Rover promises that it will be possible to drive in all-electric mode for a distance of 100 kilometers. This will be made possible by the presence of a 105 kW electric motor, backed by a 38.2 kWh lithium-ion battery.

Configuration

As mentioned, two wheelbase lengths will be possible with this Range Rover. With the longer one, a seven-seat configuration will be offered. This is in contrast to the four-seat SV variant, which is expected later. The latter will enhance luxury to the point where the model will no longer have a complex against the Rolls-Royces and Bentleys of this world.

When the extended wheelbase is selected, the V8 engine is present under the hood. It is with the short wheelbase that one can opt for the other engines.

Finally, how can you get past the level of customization of the model? Land Rover claims that there are 1.6 million possibilities when it comes to customizing a model, which is as interesting as it is fascinating.

With the SV model, you'll even be able to submit your choice of body color and it will be made for you.

We'll have more details in April when the model arrives in dealerships. Make sure you don't miss its debut by stopping by.
