The Differences Between the Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport
August 05 2022,
The Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport may share a name, but there are many differences between the two that make them both unique and aimed at distinct markets.
The dimensions
The most noticeable difference between the Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport is their dimensions. The Range Rover Sport is significantly smaller than the Range Rover in every direction including width and height, both inside and outside. Combined with its lower weight, this makes it more agile and more dynamic than the Range Rover, in addition to making it easier to park around town. On the other hand, this means that the Range Rover is more comfortable, more practical, and has a more impressive presence out on the road.
The practicality
Speaking of practicality, the Range Rover benefits from almost 1,000 litres more cargo space than the Range Rover Sport when all of the rear seats are folded and up to 441 litres more with only the third row folded down. This makes it possible to carry much more cargo in the Range Rover than in the Range Rover Sport, which is already very practical. This advantage is not limited to cargo capacity either, since the Range Rover offers a more useable third row of seats that can be occupied by passengers for longer periods without discomfort due to the more generous head and shoulder space compared to the Range Rover Sport.
The performance
The Range Rover Sport excuses its diminished practicality with a level of performance that is superior to the Range Rover. Indeed, both models are available with the same three powertrain choices which all deliver the same level of power no matter which vehicle they are installed into. This means that the lower weight and smaller dimensions of the Range Rover Sport give it an undeniable advantage in terms of acceleration but also in terms of handling over the Range Rover.
