Range Rover SV Ultra Arrives in Montreal: World-First Electrostatic Sound and a Cabin Built Around Wellbeing

The Range Rover SV Ultra is the most technologically advanced Range Rover available today. Announced on 29 April 2026, this model introduces the world's first electrostatic sound system fitted to a production vehicle, paired with a cabin that treats audio, material design, and occupant wellness as a single, integrated experience. For Montreal buyers drawn to music, architecture, and sensory detail, the SV Ultra delivers a level of interior engineering that has no direct competitor in the luxury SUV segment.

Two powertrain options anchor the SV Ultra lineup. The P550e plug-in electric hybrid offers electric-only driving capability for daily commutes through Montreal's urban core, while the P615 V8 provides high output for long-distance highway travel across Quebec. A fully electric version is expected to follow later in 2026. Every SV Ultra is built by Special Vehicle Operations, Range Rover's in-house team responsible for the brand's most exclusive vehicles.

SV Electrostatic Sound: How It Works

The SV Electrostatic Sound system is available exclusively as an option on SV models, and it marks the first time electrostatic speaker technology has been installed in any production vehicle. The system uses 21 lightweight thin-film transducers — integrated into redesigned winged headrests, seatbacks, and headlining speaker locations — to create a personal auditorium for each seat.

Each electrostatic speaker contains an ultra-light membrane just 1 mm thick, suspended between two perforated metallic plates. When an audio signal passes across the plates, the membrane responds up to 1,000 times faster than a conventional coil speaker. The result is detailed, low-distortion sound that reproduces music as it was originally recorded, with a clarity normally associated with studio monitors or high-end headphones.

The electrostatic speakers also carry practical advantages. They require up to 90 per cent less power and save 90 per cent of mass compared to the conventional speakers they replace. They are manufactured with zero rare earth elements and from 100 per cent upcycled and recyclable materials by mass. The system has undergone more than 1,000 hours of testing in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 65°C — a testing threshold directly relevant to Quebec's seasonal extremes.

  • 21 electrostatic thin-film transducers create individual auditoriums for each seat position
  • 1 mm membrane responds up to 1,000 times faster than conventional coil speakers
  • 90% less power and 90% less mass compared to the speakers they replace
  • Zero rare earth elements; 100% upcycled and recyclable materials by mass

Body and Soul Seats and Sensory Haptic Floor

The SV Electrostatic Sound system works in concert with two additional technologies: Body and Soul Seats (BASS) and the Sensory Haptic Floor.

BASS uses AI-optimized software to analyse media in real time, generating in-seat pulsations that allow occupants to physically feel the audio performance. The system is available in both first and second rows. Beneath the floor mats, four transducers in each passenger footwell extend the haptic experience through the Sensory Haptic Floor, creating an enveloping audio environment from headrest to floor.

Beyond music, BASS offers six wellness programmes — ranging from "Calm" to "Invigorating" — designed to influence heart-rate variability (HRV). These modes can help reduce anxiety or support improved cognitive response during long commutes, making the cabin a space for recovery and focus, not just transportation.

Exclusive Interior: Orchid White, Rattan Palm, and Titan Silver

The SV Ultra introduces an exclusive light duo-tone interior finished in Orchid White and Cinder Grey Ultrafabrics — a leather-free material chosen for its engineered softness, which allows for precise laser-crafted mosaic patterning and intricate perforations across the seat surfaces. This is a deliberate material choice, not a compromise; the Ultrafabrics finish enables a level of surface detail that traditional leather cannot support.

A new rattan palm veneer lines the cabin, extending beneath the touchscreen and through to the electrically deployable club table in the rear and the powered door of the integrated cooler compartment. Using a patented technique that preserves the material's natural cellular structure, the veneer is finished in an Orchid White tint that emphasizes its open-pore texture. The tubular cells absorb dye to create a warm undertone derived from the material's natural resins.

Additional cabin details include colour-matched Orchid Pearl SV speakers, Orchid White seatbelts, SV Ultra-branded treadplates, and a new elongated scatter cushion incorporating Kvadrat remix textile — a wool and recycled polyester fabric that offers a soft, contemporary shape.

On the exterior, the SV Ultra introduces Titan Silver — a paint finish exclusive to this model. Titan Silver uses fine aluminium flake and advanced pigment technology to produce a highly reflective surface with an iridescent, mirror-like quality. Satin Platinum Atlas and Silver Chrome accents complement the finish on the grille and side graphic, while 23-inch alloy wheels feature Satin Platinum inserts and new Range Rover centre caps.
