A look at the three versions of the Land Rover Defender

The Land Rover Defender made its debut with great fanfare for the year 2020. The pandemic didn't affect it as it managed to make its way onto the market without too much trouble. It has to be said that its attractive lines have helped it, as well as the quality of what it offers.

We never spit on that.

And for the near future of the model, a third variant has been added to the first two that caused a stir. Here's a quick overview of the three Land Rover Defender variants.

Defender 90

The 90 version is the easiest to identify. Its wheelbase is shorter, so it stretches less than the other two. And the difference is important. The distance between the two axles is 2587 mm, while with the other two models, the difference is 3022 mm.

This translates into a length of 4323 mm for the 90 model, 4758 mm for the 110 version (without the spare tires).

Oh, the 90 model is the only one to offer only two doors. As unmistakable as it is irresistible.

Defender 110

With the 110 model, as we saw, everything is extended. This allows for the installation of rear doors, but also a third row of seats. Of course, with this model, the cargo volume is more imposing at 2277 liters. It is limited to 1563 liters with the 90 model.

Of course, it all depends on your needs here. Both models meet specific needs.

Defender 130

Finally, a third player will join the lineup soon, the 130 model. This one will be based on the same platform as the 110 version, but will of course offer more space in the back, with the third row included of course. The Defender 130 is intended to serve all those interested in a 110 variant, people who simply need more space. The model is 13.4 inches longer.

Mechanically, the 90 and 110 models are entitled to the same mechanicals, but the 130 version that is about to appear will not be able to take advantage of the base engine. Because of its larger size, it was more appropriate to leave it with the most powerful engines in the family. Initially, it will be able to benefit from two different 6-cylinder engines, but it could receive others a little later on.

All in all, it's an increasingly interesting lineup that's taking shape under the Defender name. And there are more surprises in store for us, which makes the arrival of this new variant even more exciting.

Range Rover Long Wheelbase Seven-Seat: Why Montreal's Executive Families Are Paying Attention

Most seven-seat luxury SUVs ask you to accept a trade-off. The third row gets the space, but it comes at the cost of rear-seat refinement, cargo volume, or the kind of ride quality that makes a long vehicle feel composed rather than cumbersome. The Range Rover Long Wheelbase (LWB) with seven seats was engineered to reject that compromise. It adds 200 mm to the wheelbase over the Standard... Read more
