A Land Rover Sales Specialist Answers Frequently Asked Questions

Throughout our conversation with Max Segal, Sales Consultant at Decarie Land Rover in Montreal, one thing becomes evident. He loves his job.

Career would actually be a more appropriate word. At Decarie since graduation, Max doesn’t plan to go anywhere else. He talks about the team and how great it is, the environment and how enjoyable it is, and of course the Land Rover and Range Rover product lineup and how he can’t see himself representing any other brand.

“Land Rover is what I know and what I enjoy showcasing. There’s an aura about the brand that differentiates it and makes it special”, he says.

We sat down with Max and talked about the work of a Land Rover Sales Consultant, and the vehicles offered by the British automaker.

What’s it like representing Land Rover?

It’s a lot of fun, I can tell you that right away. It’s a special automaker with a lot of history, and special models that really stand out. Whether it’s Land Rover or Range Rover, every model has something unique. I love talking about the brand with our clients and finding the right model for them together.

Many clients come in and they want a Land Rover or a Range Rover. Their mind is made up because of the brand’s unique appeal and position in the market. From there, we get into the fun of configuring the model to their needs and preferences which is one of the best parts of the job.

What’s a typical day like for you?

That’s a really difficult question to answer because frankly, there isn’t a typical day really. Every day is different, and I think that’s a big part of what makes it so enjoyable. Anybody in sales will tell you that no two days are alike, and that’s especially true in automotive.

The days are very busy, and they go by quickly. It’s all centered around the clients, whether it be following up with clients who visited recently, meeting new clients who visit for the first time, or making sure past clients who received their vehicle recently are happy, my day is spent with clients. That’s what makes it interesting because every client is different, but it is always a great relationship.

Tell us about the new Land Rover Defender, it’s pretty popular isn’t it?

Definitely. The new Defender has gotten a lot of attention since it was announced, and now that it has arrived it’s getting even more interest. It’s a special vehicle that offers luxury and refinement, but with a rugged, go-anywhere twist. It’s maybe the best representation of Land Rover, and it has a lot of value built into the price.

Is it hard to get one?

There’s obviously a lot of demand, but we meet every single one. The great thing is that when you order a Defender, you can build it exactly how you want with the features and equipment you want. It really becomes your vehicle. So, to answer your question, clients who want one will get one, and they have the advantage of getting the exact one they want.

What about the Range Rover? Is there anything different about ordering one of the most luxurious SUVs on the market?

The process is basically the same, but the customization possibilities are pretty impressive. Range Rover can do a lot of special things through their Special Vehicle Operations division, and you can really customize the Range Rover to your image and personality. SVO is also available on other Land Rover and Range Rover products as well.

That said, with Range Rover, buyers are usually very clear on what they want. They tell us, and we make it happen. It’s certainly a lot of fun to see the vehicle come to life and the smile on the client’s face.

And in closing, because we are sure you thought about it, what would be your dream Land Rover or Range Rover vehicle?

*Chuckles* That’s a great question because of course I thought about it and honestly, it changes every week! But, this week and probably for the foreseeable future, it would have to be the Defender. I’m head over heels for it. I’d probably go for the two-door 90 because I don’t have any kids right now and I like the fact that it is a little bit smaller, and so different. I would go all-in with the accessories, and it would look like I’m about to go explore Mount Everest!
