What you need to know about the 2022 Land Rover Discovery Sport

The Discovery Sport made its debut in 2019 as a 2020 model. So we're still getting the same vehicle in 2022, but it gets some small upgrades that make it even more appealing to the new year.

Here are some interesting things to know about the 2022 Land Rover Discovery Sport.

Four versions

There are four versions on the menu. First, there's the base variant that could simply be called Discovery Sport. Then, you can opt for an R-Dynamic model. The latter is available in three configurations: S, SE or HSE.

The first thing to keep in mind is that the initial offering is fully equipped. It includes self-leveling headlights, heated auto-dimming mirrors, towing hooks, heated rear window, dual-zone climate control, a cargo cover, 12-volt outlets front and rear, 20-inch wheels, a multimedia system that recognizes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a slew of safety features such as smart cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and lane keep assist.

As for the R-Dynamic model, it follows the same recipe, but features a style that stands out a bit more, taking on a sportier look in the process. The interior features paddles on the steering wheel, as well as a heated steering wheel function.

Finally, with the SE and HSE versions of the R-Dynamic series, there are some small additions to the equipment, such as LED daytime running lights with a clean signature, as well as automatic low beams. All in all, it's already so complete that there was no need to add anything.

The engine

All Discovery Sports are powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces 246 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. This engine is very smooth and promises an average fuel consumption of 9.7 L/100 km, which is interesting.

It's paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel drive is standard, of course.

Capabilities

Of course, it's impossible to talk about a Land Rover product without mentioning its off-road capabilities. With the 2022 Discovery Sport, you get the Terrain Response system as standard equipment, which, thanks to the numerous settings it offers, will allow you to drive on different types of terrain. In fact, the system adapts the vehicle's behavior according to the surface under your wheels (mud, sand, gravel, for example), so that you can enjoy maximum traction at all times.

Add to that the incredible quality of the available Meridian audio system, or the Activity Key that allows you to leave your keys safely in the vehicle when you're playing sports. In fact, you simply wear a bracelet on your arm and use it to open your vehicle when you return.

The comfortable feel of the seats, the smoothness of the ride, the fun behind the wheel, everything about the 2022 Land Rover Discovery Sport pleases. Don't hesitate to come and test drive it to fully understand what makes a Land Rover product so unique.
