What is Land Rover's Pivi system?

A new name has arrived at Land Rover this year: Pivi. In fact, it is simply the new multimedia system of the Jaguar Land Rover group, the Pivi Pro. However, this is not just another multimedia system; it actually takes the experience to another level.

The Pivi Pro is based on the brand's latest electronic vehicle architecture (EVA 2.0). With Pivi Pro, Jaguar Land Rover is completely rethinking its approach. For example, by using its own back-up battery, the system is designed to work immediately after the engine start. Thus, it is instantly ready to accept destination requests when normally one would have to wait a few seconds. Pivi Pro also promises a simplified experience for the user, in addition to providing lightning responses to commands received. In addition, fewer steps will be required to access and activate commonly used functions.

All in all, a more efficient and much faster system.

Standard features of the Pivi Pro system include a 10-inch touch screen, wireless charging for smartphones, Bluetooth pairing for two devices at the same time, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto apps.

For navigation, the technology uses dynamic route guidance and what Land Rover calls "self-learning algorithms" to improve the navigation to a destination. It also features Intelligent Voice Guidance, which disables audible instructions when the technology determines that you are in a familiar area.

As a driver, you can also choose to view navigational mapping on the Defender's 12.3-inch screen digital instrument cluster, all in high-definition 3D. This option leaves the center touch screen free to perform other functions or simply display your favourite screen.

And if Pivi Pro looks so user-friendly, it's because Land Rover modeled it after the smartphone interfaces.

Other great features include wireless updating from anywhere in the world, ensuring that the software and navigation maps are always as up-to-date as possible.

And thanks to its two processors, modems and operating systems, Pivi Pro can download updates at the same time as the driver and occupants are streaming music or running applications. In addition, Pivi Pro offers a set of Wi-Fi access data.

Pivi Pro is a revolution in the world of multimedia systems. We can expect to see it appear on other products of the brand after its debut on the new 2020 Defender.

Range Rover Long Wheelbase Seven-Seat: Why Montreal's Executive Families Are Paying Attention

Most seven-seat luxury SUVs ask you to accept a trade-off. The third row gets the space, but it comes at the cost of rear-seat refinement, cargo volume, or the kind of ride quality that makes a long vehicle feel composed rather than cumbersome. The Range Rover Long Wheelbase (LWB) with seven seats was engineered to reject that compromise. It adds 200 mm to the wheelbase over the Standard... Read more
