What are the differences between the 2023 Range Rover Sport and the 2023 Range Rover?

With a lineup as extensive as Land Rover's, it can be easy to get confused when two models have virtually the same name. You've probably already asked yourself what differentiates the Ranger Rover Sport from its cousin, the Range Rover.

It's pretty simple really. Here's what jumps out at you and what makes these two icons so distinct.

Style

In terms of styling, the two models are similar, of course, but we quickly notice that the Range Rover is longer while the Range Rover has a more slimmed down front end. Both have quite spectacular designs.

Performance

Buyers have a variety of performance options with the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. Comparing entry-level trim levels, both models enjoy 395 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque from its 3.0-liter, mild-hybrid 6-cylinder powertrain.

Everyone can also take advantage of the twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 that produces 523 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque.

Where there's a slight difference is that Range Rover Sport models are equipped with Terrain Response all-wheel drive, while the larger Range Rover benefits from a permanent all-wheel drive system, ensuring that no obstacle stands between you and your next adventure.

These are subtleties that will be important if you often drive off the beaten path. The important thing is that both can go anywhere. The Range Rover is simply suited for extreme excursions. Also, as the name implies, the Sport version's driving is more... sporty.

Interior

Some of the key distinctions between the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport are evident when comparing the interiors. Starting with the Range Rover, you find some standard features that are optional on the Range Rover Sport. For example, a power sunroof extends over the first and second rows of seats to allow fresh air and natural light into the cabin. The option must be selected with the Sport model.

Rear passengers will appreciate Range Rover's standard climate controls to customize their experience. Each vehicle is equipped with a navigation system to help you arrive at your destination safely and on time. Because of its larger size, the Range Rover offers more legroom in the front and rear. On the other hand, once you fold down all the rear seats, you have more cargo space with the Sport model.

Technology

Every Land Rover benefits from cutting-edge technology that enhances the ownership experience. The Range Rover and Range Rover Sport are certainly no exception. For example, the Pivi Pro multimedia system (Range Rover), a Meridian audio system, voice recognition, and premium Windsor leather upholstery are standard on each model.

When it comes to connectivity, both models offer the ultimate in connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto app connectivity, cellular search and more.
