Towing with 2024 Land Rover and Range Rover SUVs

Land Rover and Range Rover models are known for their luxury, performance, and all-terrain capabilities, but their towing capacities are not to be forgotten either. Indeed, These SUVs can tow almost anything you might need to transport, making it possible to enjoy the comfort and luxury you are used to at all times, without the need to rent a larger vehicle. Here are a few more details about the towing capabilities of each 2024 Land Rover model:

Range Rover Evoque

The 2024 Range Rover Evoque is the smallest model in the lineup, but that doesn’t mean it is not able to tow a decent amount of weight. Indeed, the Evoque can tow up to 1,800 kilograms (3968 pounds), which is more than many of its competitors and enough for most buyers. This capability allows the Range Rover Evoque to transport things such as ATVs, gardening supplies, or even a small travel trailer. Under the hood of the Evoque is a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine that delivers 246 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission, ensuring efficiency along with performance.

Land Rover Discovery Sport

Moving up in the range to the 2024 Land Rover Discovery Sport increases the maximum allowable trailer weight up to 2,000 kilograms (4,409 pounds). This greater capacity is a result of the larger size of the Discovery Sport over the Evoque, which allows it to keep better control of a trailer in difficult conditions such as lateral winds. The Discovery Sport shares the same 2.0L turbocharged engine as the Evoque, with a 3-horsepower boost making for a total of 249. Of course, a higher towing capacity makes the Discovery Sport even more practical.

Range Rover Velar

The 2024 Range Rover Velar is a stylish SUV that combines the luxury and comfort of the traditional Range Rover with a more modern and stylish design. This model can be ordered with several powertrains, including electrified ones, but these don’t have an impact on its towing capacity, which stands at 2,400 kilograms (5,291 pounds). With this level of capabilities, the Range Rover Velar is capable of answering the needs of most buyers.

Land Rover Discovery

The 2024 Land Rover Discovery is a larger model that shares its design and concept with the Discovery Sport. Unsurprisingly, this size difference as well as more powerful engines, with outputs of either 296 or 355 horsepower, give the Discovery better towing abilities. No matter which engine is under the hood, this model can tow trailers that weigh up to 3,500 kilograms (7,716 pounds).

Land Rover Defender 90, 110 & 130

The 2024 Land Rover Defender is offered in three different body lengths, starting with the two-door 90 and ending with the stretched 8-passenger 130. Since all models share the same powertrains, size becomes a limiting factor in this case. This means that the smaller Defender 90 and 110 have an advantage over the 130 since they can tow up to 3,500 kilograms (7,716 pounds) while the larger model can tow up to 3,000 kilograms (6,613 pounds). This is still more than enough for most drivers, and the Defender will be able to satisfy almost every towing need, no matter which model you choose.

Range Rover Sport

The 2024 Range Rover Sport is a smaller and more performance-oriented version of the traditional Range Rover. As such, this model benefits from the same powertrains as its sibling, enabling it to tow just as heavy loads. In all models except for the plug-in hybrid version, the Range Rover Sport can tow up to 3,500 kilograms (7,715 pounds). With the electrified drivetrain, this capacity is reduced slightly to 3,000 kilograms (6,613 pounds).

Range Rover

The “regular” Range Rover is all but regular. Following from the recent complete refresh of this iconic model, the 2024 version offers variying levels of towing capacities depending on the version, which makes it important to be well-informed before making your choice. Most 2024 Range Rover models can tow up to 3,500 kilograms (7,715 pounds), which is sufficient for a horse trailer or a large travel trailer, for example. If you choose the plug-in hybrid powertrain in a regular wheelbase model, the towing capacity will be lowered to 3,000 kilograms (6,613 pounds). Another factor that has an impact on towing with the 2024 Range Rover is the body variant since the Long Wheelbase seven-seater version is limited to 2,500 kilograms (5,511 pounds), no matter which engine is under hood.
