Range Rover Sport 2021 vs BMW X6 2021: Powertrain Selection and Performance

The 2021 Range Rover Sport is sportier and offers a full range of powertrains that leave the competition behind. It also integrates a host of advanced technologies to make driving safer, more fun, and convenient.

Here, we compare the 2021 Range Rover Sport to the 2021 BMW X6.

The 2021 Range Rover Sport has more than the competition

With many powertrains, the Range Rover Sport goes far beyond the BMW X6 in terms of choice.

The BMW X6 xDrive40i includes a turbocharged 3.0-litre six-cylinder that produces up to 335 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque.

The X6 also offers the M50i, which produces 523 horsepower. Although substantial, the Range Rover Sport has more choice and more powerful engines in both lineups.

The only more powerful engine option available in the X6 is if one would jump to the X6 M lineup, and that decision would bring a whole other level of pricing.

The 2021 Range Rover Sport delivers a cross-section of powertrains

The Range Rover Sport engine lineup is built to be diverse, powerful and responsive. The P400e hybrid engine delivers 398 hp thanks to a powerful four-cylinder 2.0-litre engine combined to a state-of-the-art electric propulsion system. Also, this hybrid is a PHEV, so it can be plugged and drive in 100% EV mode for a total of 51 kilometres. You won’t find anything like that in the X6 lineup.

There’s also the mighty TD6 diesel engine, a six-cylinder 3.0-litre powerplant that cranks out 443 lb-ft of torque and offers maximum efficiency.

The Range Rover Sport also offers mild hybrid technologies thanks to the P360 and P400 powerplants. These units output 355 hp and 395 hp respectively and use a six-cylinder engine paired with a 48V mild hybrid system.

The Range Rover Sport also has two powertrains that produce over 500 hp. A 5.0‑litre eight-cylinder supercharged engine produces 518 hp and 461 lb-ft of torque in the HSE Dynamic and Autobiography Dynamic trims. The most powerful engine in the lineup is the 5.0‑litre eight-cylinder supercharged SVR. It produces 567 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque and is offered with the SVR models.

The Range Rover Sport is by far more technologically advanced, but it also has the powerplant to suit your needs. You can shop for your car online with us. Our representatives are waiting for your call and can answer all your questions.
