Land Rover is putting a V8 engine inside the Defender

If you like the Land Rover Defender but you want even more power under the hood, Land Rover has your back. The British automaker now offers the spectacular Defender with the company’s massive supercharged V8 inside the Defender, giving the new SUV the performance to match the looks.

Of course, the 2022 Land Rover Defender Supercharged V8 keeps the impressive design, off-road capability, and remarkable driving dynamics of the current Defender. It does,  however, get larger roll bars and stiffer bushings to handle the extra power, as well as 15-inch rotors hidden behind 22-inch wheels.

And just how much power will the V8 Defender produce? A whopping 518 horsepower and 461 pound-feet of torque, enough to reach 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. The more powerful version also offers distinctive touches such as satin metal touchpoints, Alcantara inserts inside, special V8 badging, and a more aggressive sound.

The 2022 Land Rover Defender V8 is available starting at $125,300. It is by far the most powerful, the most exclusive, and the most spectacular Land Rover model on sale today.

Despite its impressive, power, however, the new Land Rover Defender features the same off-road capability as the other Defender models. It comes with a range of standard features designed to bring further off the beaten path including:

  • Electronic Air Suspension
  • Adaptive Dynamics
  • Electronic Active Differential
  • Configurable Terrain Response
  • All Terrain Progress Control (ATPC)
  • Terrain Response 2 with Dynamic Program

These technologies are designed to adapt the behaviour of the Defender to any terrain you may face, while also giving you the precise control and advanced capability you expect in a Land Rover.

Discovery Sport Beach Days Pack: What's in It and How Montréal Families Actually Use It This Summer

The Discovery Sport has always been built around the idea that a family SUV should handle every version of a day out — not just the commute. For summer in Québec, that means beach days on the South Shore, afternoons at Lac-Memphrémagog, and impromptu detours to the waterfront at Parc national du Mont-Orford.
