Land Rover Defender or 2023 Range Rover Sport? a heartbreaking choice

It's not easy to choose a vehicle when the time comes to replace the one you've been using for a number of years, but you always end up finding a model that's more interesting than the others.

Where it becomes more difficult is when you hesitate between two products from the same company. Like hesitating between a Land Rover Defender and a 2023 Range Rover Sport.

So how do you choose? By knowing which ones you want.

Style

If you like the latest in design, the 2023 Range Rover Sport may well appeal to you, as it gets a makeover for the new year. However, its styling is evolutionary. It's all about elegance, but it's still more understated, classic.

With the Defender, you get your hands on what is perhaps the most beautiful vehicle in the family. Its style has not aged a bit in the last two years and it is destined to age well. Also, if you're a fan of Land Rover products, there's something appealing about the fact that it pays homage to the brand's past with some of its own styling cues.

P525 and P530

When you take a look at the powertrains, especially the ones that offer the most power, you can see that both models offer enough.

The question is, what can you get away with? With the Defender, the 5.0-liter V8 in the P525 version offers up to 518 horsepower and 461 pound-feet of torque, which is good enough for a 0-100 km/h time of 5.2 seconds (90 version). In the case of the new Range Rover Sport, the P530 version will benefit from a 4.4-liter turbocharged V8 that will offer 523 horsepower, which will be enough for a time of 4.5 seconds to reach 100 km/h.

It's up to you to decide, but the Defender has everything you need, we agree!

Behind the wheel

The two vehicles we're analyzing offer road manners worthy of the most incredible luxury SUVs on the market. However, there is a small difference and it could be important depending on your preferences. Do you prefer absolute smoothness or a nice smoothness, but sitting on a firmness that feels good?

The Defender offers you the former, the Range Rover Sport the latter.

It's up to you!

What's reassuring is that in either case, you'll be satisfied with your choice. That's our guarantee.
