2022 Range Rover Sport vs 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE: Beware of imitations

Sport utility vehicles have dominated the automotive landscape for several years now. Every manufacturer now offers SUVs, but not all are SUVs in the purest sense of the word.

That brings us to two important models in the mid-size SUV segment, the 2022 Range Rover Sport and the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE.

Let's take a look at what makes the Range Rover Sport a more interesting model.

The difference

And let's start with what's most obvious, the difference. Mercedes-Benz SUVs are everywhere on the road. Buying one doesn't make you stand out anymore. It's the opposite with a Land Rover product. Behind the wheel of a Range Rover Sport, you'll stand out on the road. What's more, even though we're dealing with two elegant models, we have to give the design award to Land Rover's proposal.

This is true for the exterior, but also for the interior presentation, which exudes richness and classicism.

Driving electric

The Mercedes-Benz GLE takes advantage of an approach described as mild hybridisation. It helps with fuel consumption, but it's far from what Land Rover offers, which is a plug-in hybrid solution. In concrete terms, you can get your hands on a Range Rover Sport equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and an electric motor that gives you a range of about 35 km. That's, in many cases, enough for daily commuting.

And you're not outdone by this powertrain when it comes to power, as the combined work of the organs serving the P400e variant delivers 398 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque.

Off-road capabilities

Today, many utility vehicles are equipped with systems that allow them to go off-road. That's the case with the GLE, but without wishing to discredit Mercedes-Benz, the company that's a master of off-roading is Land Rover. And it has been since 1948!

With the Range Rover Sport, it comes in the form of the industry-leading Terrain Response 2 system. It adapts to every type of surface it encounters and allows you to drive with complete control, no matter where you are.

There's no doubt that the Range Rover Sport is different and original. Come and see us to test drive a model.
