2022 Range Rover Sport vs. 2021 BMW X6: Better Options, More Choices

Sporty with undeniable Land Rover DNA, the 2021 Range Rover Sport offers one of the most diverse selection of powertrains available in an SUV. Each Sport model also is generously equipped with Land Rover's advanced technologies, special conveniences, and special comfort.

There's much more to learn. Here, we compare the Range Rover Sport to the 2021 BMW X6.

The 2022 Range Rover Sport offers a more powerful base model

With no less than seven models, the Range Rover Sport shadows the BMW X6 in model availability. This includes four outstanding powertrains, which we introduce here.

The P360 3.0-litre six-cylinder gas MHEV produces 360 hp and 365 lb-ft of torque, and it is available on the SE and HSE Silver models. The BMW X6 xDrive40i includes a base turbocharged 3.0-litre six-cylinder that produces up to 335 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque, which is less performance when comparing base models. The P400 3.0-litre six-cylinder gas MHEV generates 395 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, and is available for the HST.

The Range Rover Sport also has two powertrains that produce over 500 hp. A 5.0-litre eight-cylinder supercharged engine produces 525 hp and 461 lb-ft of torque in the HSE Dynamic and Autobiography Dynamic trims. The most powerful engine in the lineup is the 5.0-litre eight-cylinder supercharged gas SVR. It produces 575 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque and is offered with the SVR and SVR Carbon Edition models.

The 2021 Range Rover Sport offers more flexibility

Although both vehicles have similar passenger room dimensions in the front seats, the Range Rover Sport provides more leg, shoulder, and head room than the X6. Family, friends, and business associates will enjoy the extended comfort.

The Range Rover Sport also doesn't go far from its off-road roots. Each model includes a wading depth so you can take it to places where the X6 may need assistance—getting home.

You can also benefit from exclusive options like the Land Rover Activity Key which features a robust, fully waterproof wristband, allowing you to take part in a range of activities when carrying a key is less than convenient.

Range Rover Long Wheelbase Seven-Seat: Why Montreal's Executive Families Are Paying Attention

Most seven-seat luxury SUVs ask you to accept a trade-off. The third row gets the space, but it comes at the cost of rear-seat refinement, cargo volume, or the kind of ride quality that makes a long vehicle feel composed rather than cumbersome. The Range Rover Long Wheelbase (LWB) with seven seats was engineered to reject that compromise. It adds 200 mm to the wheelbase over the Standard... Read more

Range Rover's London-Inspired Editions Arrive in Montreal: Introducing the Evoque Hoxton and Velar Belgravia

Range Rover has drawn design inspiration from London for decades. The Linley Edition, unveiled in Park Lane in 1999, channelled Mayfair sophistication.
