2022 Land Rover Range Rover vs. 2022 Cadillac Escalade: The Real Premium Experience

When you want the pinnacle of choices in a luxury SUV, the Range Rover fleet awaits your discovery. You can select from standard and long wheelbases and special edition models. No matter what you choose, you can expect a new era of refinement in your driving.

There are a few known competitors in the Range Rover's segment. Here, we compare it to the 2022 Cadillac Escalade.

2022 Range Rover offers a full range of powertrains and satisfying efficiency

The driving force behind the success of the Range Rover is the range of choices the vehicle offers, from amenities to powertrains. The Range Rover offers no less than five engine options, including gas, hybrid, diesel, and MHEV designs. However, the Escalade only offers two. You must choose between traditional gas and diesel options, neither of which don't capitalize on available electric motor/power technology.

The Range Rover also offers outstanding fuel efficiency when compared to the Escalade. The HSE model (standard wheelbase) with the 3.0‑litre Td6 Diesel earns a fuel consumption rating of 10.7 / 8.3 L/100 km (city/highway). This tops the Escalade's best rating of 12.0 / 8.9 L/100 km when paired with the optional 3.0-litre Duramax diesel engine. As a matter of fact, the diesel Range Rover sacrifices only 17 lb-ft of torque against its competitor.

The Escalade's standard engine drives up fuel consumption to 16.8 / 12.4 L/100 km. This is more than all engines offered in the Range Rover, except for its most powerful option. Overall, the Range Rover is more efficient than the Escalade.

The 2022 Range Rover introduces you to a new class of large SUV power

If you crave access to the best power available in this comparison, the Range Rover wins again. The 5.0-litre P525 V8 Supercharged engine provides 518 horsepower and 461 lb-ft of torque in three Range Rover models. The 5.0-litre P565 V8 increases horsepower to 567 and torque to over 500 lb-ft in the SV Autobiography. Both numbers shadow the Escalade's standard engine, which peaks at 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.

Range Rover Long Wheelbase Seven-Seat: Why Montreal's Executive Families Are Paying Attention

Most seven-seat luxury SUVs ask you to accept a trade-off. The third row gets the space, but it comes at the cost of rear-seat refinement, cargo volume, or the kind of ride quality that makes a long vehicle feel composed rather than cumbersome. The Range Rover Long Wheelbase (LWB) with seven seats was engineered to reject that compromise. It adds 200 mm to the wheelbase over the Standard... Read more
