2022 Land Rover Defender vs 2022 BMW X5: irresistible

The BMW X5 is an established model in the mid-size luxury SUV segment. However, its hegemony has been threatened since the arrival of the Land Rover Defender, as this vehicle really has everything to make you forget the advantages of driving an X5.

In fact, the Land Rover Defender is as interesting, competent and complete as it is irresistible. Let's see why.

Irresistible style... and inimitable

If we were to hold a beauty contest and pit the BMW X5 against the Land Rover Defender, there's no doubt in our minds that our representative would win hands down. The Defender is one of the most beautiful vehicles that has been presented for years throughout the automotive industry, all categories included.

As such, it offers you a much more appealing style than the X5, which is frozen in time. And that difference plays a role when it comes to buying an SUV in this category where you like to differentiate yourself. The Defender does just that.

Unique interior

This uniqueness can also be found on board. At BMW, we're back to that, we're stuck in standards and habits. It's nice, but it doesn't really bring anything new. With the Defender, a vehicle built entirely from scratch, we were treated to an original creation... from scratch. This is reflected when you sit in the driver's seat and discover an original presentation at the dashboard and center console.

It's new, it's user-friendly, it's pretty, it's clean and it's refreshing.

Off-road capabilities

BMW, in making the leap into the world of SUVs, had to develop skills to ensure that its crossovers offered certain off-road capabilities. The company has done a great job of that, and for that, congratulations!

However, everyone knows that despite all the good work done, it can't come close to Land Rover's know-how. If BMW has been doing this for two decades, Land Rover has been doing it for a little over seven, since 1948.

Two wheelbases

The Defender has the particularity of being served with two different wheelbases, hence the name of the versions (90 and 110). We're still talking about the same quality and luxury offered, but inside separate envelopes. This is interesting for customers who are faced with a real choice.

With the X5, we don't have that luxury.

If you're looking for a luxury SUV that really offers something different, don't hesitate to come and discover the Land Rover. You can always go test drive an X5 afterwards to compare, but you'll realize, the seduction is likely to take effect quickly.

This SUV is just that... irresistible.

Range Rover Long Wheelbase Seven-Seat: Why Montreal's Executive Families Are Paying Attention

Most seven-seat luxury SUVs ask you to accept a trade-off. The third row gets the space, but it comes at the cost of rear-seat refinement, cargo volume, or the kind of ride quality that makes a long vehicle feel composed rather than cumbersome. The Range Rover Long Wheelbase (LWB) with seven seats was engineered to reject that compromise. It adds 200 mm to the wheelbase over the Standard... Read more
