2021 Range Rover Evoque vs. 2021 Porsche Macan: Standing Out of the Pack

The Evoque is right at home in many places, whether on- or off-road. But it swims in a sea where many other luxury SUVs only perform on perfectly paved roads. Today, we compare the Evoque to the 2021 Porsche Macan.

The Range Rover Evoque proves its value

One of the most obvious differences between the Evoque and Macan is price. The Evoque's base model, the S, has the lowest starting MSRP out of both lineups at $48,700. However, the Macan's entry grade starts at a robust $57,800. Let's compare both of these models to see how they line up.

The Evoque S features a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder that generates 246 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. This engine pairs with an advanced nine-speed automatic transmission and AWD system. Its nearest competitor, the base Macan, has a similar engine which is also a 2.0-litre four cylinder that produces nearly identical horsepower and torque numbers.

The Evoque S and other models also include important equipment not even found on the base or other Macan trims, including remote engine start, a hands-free liftgate, cooled rear seats, night vision, HID headlights, head-up display, automatic parking, and many other useful amenities. With a starting price of $9,000 less, the Evoque S sure has a great case of proving its value over the base Macan.

The Range Rover Evoque's $40,000 advantage

The remaining Evoque models have starting MSRPs as follows: Evoque SE, $53,300; R-Dynamic SE, $54,700, and R-Dynamic HSE, $58,300. Compare that to the Macan S at $65,600, Macan GTS at $79,200, and the Macan Turbo at $96,500. That's nearly a $40,000 disparity between the Evoque's and Macan's highest grades.

As a matter of fact, if you choose to sacrifice some performance, you can save tens of thousands of dollars and still own a fully-equipped luxury SUV that can go more places than the Macan. The Evoque's wading depth of 530 mm surpasses the Macan's by 180 mm, a sure sign of the Macan's off-road limitations. The Evoque also comes from a long line of SUVs that have true off-road DNA, making it the choice for versatility.

In the end, the Evoque has better value, and stands out of the pack. You can shop for your car online with us. Our representatives are waiting for your call and can answer all your questions.

Range Rover Long Wheelbase Seven-Seat: Why Montreal's Executive Families Are Paying Attention

Most seven-seat luxury SUVs ask you to accept a trade-off. The third row gets the space, but it comes at the cost of rear-seat refinement, cargo volume, or the kind of ride quality that makes a long vehicle feel composed rather than cumbersome. The Range Rover Long Wheelbase (LWB) with seven seats was engineered to reject that compromise. It adds 200 mm to the wheelbase over the Standard... Read more
