2021 Land Rover Discovery vs. 2021 Acura MDX: Refined Performance

The Land Rover Discovery has always been a unique vehicle, offering the best performance in terms of horsepower and torque, but also in terms of driving dynamics and off-road capabilities. Many rivals try to emulate the Land Rover Discovery’s success, but none of them can attain the perfect balance between performance and luxury that it so elegantly provides.

Here, we compare the Land Rover Discovery with the Acura MDX.

More power and torque under the hood for the 2021 Land Rover Discovery

If you’re looking for a powerful SUV, look no further than the Land Rover Discovery. It offers a choice of two powerful engines. The P300 engine is 2.0-litre turbocharged engine with 295 horsepower unit, which is more powerful than the MDX’s base engine, a 3.5-litre V6 which only provides 290 horsepower.

The second powertrain option is the P360, a very powerful 3.0-litre engine which outputs 355 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque. This is far much more horsepower than what the Acura MDX can output. A Type-S version of the MDX is listed in the “future vehicles” section on Acura’s website, but it is not available at the moment.

Both Discovery powertrain options are mated to Land Rover All-Wheel Drive (AWD), a system which is much more evolved than the Acura MDX’s AWD system in all conditions. The Land Rover Discovery is also equipped with an electronic air suspension and the unique Terrain Response system.

In the R-Dynamic trims, drivers can benefit from Twin-Speed Transfer Box (high/low range) for maximum capabilities in off-road situations, a technology you won’t find in the Acura MDX.

A more premium and technologically advanced interior with the Discovery

Inside, the Land Rover Discovery deploys superior levels of refinement thanks to upscale materials and textures perfectly blended to please to the eye and to the touch, an environment far more luxurious than what you will find in the Acura MDX. The Discovery is fitted with the Pivi Pro system, which is much more intuitive than the MDX’s infotainment system. It includes artificial intelligence, all-new intelligent navigation, 2D and 3D maps with automatic updates and live traffic information.

The 2021 Land Rover Discovery is much more advanced than the Acura MDX. You can shop for your car online with us, our representatives are waiting for your call and can answer all your questions.
