2021 Land Rover Discovery vs 2021 Acura MDX: More Than a Luxury SUV

Land Rover Discovery offers exhilarating style and performance in a highly technological package. It is at the top in terms of performance, but also in terms of driving dynamics and off-road capabilities. Even though some rivals try to emulate its abilities and uniqueness, there is nothing like a Land Rover.

Here we compare the 2021 Land Rover Discovery with the 2021 Acura MDX.

A highly technological and luxurious interior in the Land Rover Discovery

Inside, the Land Rover Discovery offers a much more luxurious environment than that of the Acura MDX. It is equipped with the Pivi Pro system, which is much more intuitive than the MDX's infotainment system. With artificial intelligence capabilities, intelligent navigation, 2D and 3D maps with automatic updates and live traffic information, the Discovery will take you much further than the MDX.

Land Rover Discovery delivers more power

Under the hood of the Land Rover Discovery you'll find a choice of two powerful and highly efficient engines. First, the P300 engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that develops 295 horsepower. This unit is more efficient than the base engine of the MDX, a 3.5-liter V6 that produces only 290 horsepower.

For more power, buyers can equip their Land Rover Discovery with the P360 engine, a very powerful 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that develops 355 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque. It outputs considerably more power than the base engine of the MDX. While a Type-S version of the MDX is touted as a "future vehicle" at Acura, it just isn't available right now.

For maximum grip on all types of roads, both engines are paired with Land Rover’s advanced all-wheel drive. This highly efficient element is much more advanced than the similar system in the Acura MDX. Three elements that also stand out in the Land Rover Discovery are the electronic air suspension, the Terrain Response system, and the two-speed transfer box of the R-Dynamic versions.
